Male fireflies are the only to fly

I just recently learned that male fireflies are the only to fly the female’s wings are to short to fly :( Must be nice to be a male firefly ;)

The male firefly flashes its light for a very important purpose. It wants to find a mate. When it gets dark, the male firefly flies through the night. It flashes its light like a signal. Each kind of firefly has its own signal.

The female firefly has short wings and often can’t fly. It perches itself on a bush or a rock and waits. When a male passes by with a signal the female recognizes, the female flashes back the same signal. The male lands and touches the female’s antennae. This is how fireflies smell each other. If the female smells right to him, the two fireflies will mate. Later the female lays her eggs.

Merry Go Round and Round wherever it stopped she perceived something new and profound

He told her she needed to stop riding the Merry Go Round. He called them Merry Go Rounds she liked to call them Carousels.  He thought that her life was redundant, because she enjoyed riding on the carousel everyday. What he didn’t know was that each time she road on the Merry go Round she always gained a new perception of the world. In spite of what he thought of her always riding the Merry Go Round it has always brought her joy and it never got redundant to her.

Wench! WOW just like the iPad

The iPad is now out, and I’m waiting for the wi-fi version to hit the stores. Yes, I’m a trader I’m getting me an iPad and Wench will be the first book to be downloaded if I don’t purchase it before the iPad!

The relationship between slave masters and the slaves who were their lovers can be difficult to fathom. But author Dolen Perkins Valdez takes on the subject in her a new book, titled Wench. Startling and original fiction that raises provocative questions of power and freedom, love and dependence. An enchanting and unforgettable novel!
